Quintana opened the season at Triple-A Nashville after signing with the Brewers in early May, then joined Milwaukee's rotation after two weeks once he was fully stretched out. He finished with 24 starts, working around an early IL stint for a shoulder issue and a late-season absence due to a left calf strain. For the fourth straight year, the veteran left-hander outperformed his peripherals, posting an ERA well below its estimators. His strikeout rate declined for the fifth consecutive season, while his walk rate rose for the third year in a row. Even so, Quintana continued to keep the ball in the yard, limiting damage despite the erosion in skills. Relying on this profile is risky, as pitchers often appear lucky, until they're not.
