2026 Fantasy Outlook
Suarez clubbed 49 home runs this past season -- the second time in his career that he's reached that mark -- and accrued a career-high 118 RBI and 91 runs scored. Dating back to July 2024, Suarez has hit 73 home runs, a total bested only by Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber over that stretch. The 34-year-old fared much worse after he was dealt back to Seattle at the trade deadline (.189/.255/.428) than he did in Arizona (.248/.320/.576), which wasn't a big surprise given the ballpark downgrade. Now back with Cincinnati on a one-year deal, he'll be a good bet for 30-plus homers, particularly when factoring in his nearly flawless health track record. Just be prepared to ride the highs and lows he'll undoubtedly experience. Read Past Outlooks
Inks one-year deal with Cincinnati
Suarez and the Reds agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract Sunday that includes a $16 million mutual option for the 2027 season, pending a physical, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
Suarez will reunite with the Reds, whom he spent seven seasons with from 2015 to 2021 before being traded to the Mariners in March of 2022. Passan relays that Suarez will likely see most of his at-bats as the Reds' designated hitter but should also get some reps at the corners. Suarez ended the 2025 season with the Mariners after being traded by the Diamondbacks in July. His .896 OPS with Arizona dipped noticeably to .683 with Seattle, and he ended the 2025 regular season having posted a .228/.298/.526 slash line with four steals, 91 runs, 49 home runs and 118 RBI over 657 plate appearances.

It would have been difficult for Suarez's first season in the desert to get off to a worse start. The 33-year-old was sitting on a .196/.279/.312 batting line and had homered only six times through the end of June. One of the game's streakiest hitters then went on an epic three-month run which saw him slash .312/.357/.617 with 24 homers and 69 RBI across his final 78 contests. All told, Suarez finished with his fifth career 30-homer season, his third 100-RBI season and a career-high 90 runs scored. There will eventually be a season where Suarez won't be able to get up off the mat, but Suarez's batted-ball data in 2024 was right along with his recent norms and his strikeout rate was actually his lowest in six seasons. He should remain a productive, albeit inconsistent, fantasy asset again in 2025.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Value slipping?
According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, Suarez's eventual contract could end up being much lower than the initial projections.
Analysis
The veteran third baseman launched 49 homers during the 2025 regular season, but he batted .228 on the year and had a .683 OPS in 53 games after being sent to the Mariners at the trade deadline. Suarez's defense at third base has also suffered as he pushes into his mid-30s, as he had a career-worst DRS of minus-6 last season. His free-agent market this winter has been slow moving as a result, and a lower price point could bring some more teams to the table.
