Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Chourio inked an eight-year, $80 million extension with the Brewers in November of 2023 before making his MLB debut, and he lived up to the hype during his rookie campaign and finished with 21 homers, 22 steals and a .275/.327/.464 slash line in 148 contests. However, the road wasn't smooth for the young outfielder, as he struggled mightily through the first two months of the season and had a .581 OPS at the end of May. Chourio then got comfortable and had an .883 OPS the rest of the way, which likely would have been enough to win him National League Rookie of the Year most seasons, but Paul Skenes and Jackson Merrill were even more impressive. Chourio's numbers were supported by a .278 xBA and .438 xSLG, so there's no reason to believe the production is unsustainable. He'll turn just 21 years old in March and has as much upside as anyone in the sport while coming off an already strong rookie year. Read Past Outlooks

Late addition to lineup
Chourio (hamstring) will serve as the Brewers' designated hitter and bat second Wednesday against the Phillies.
Analysis
Chourio was originally slated to sit out Wednesday's contest after reporting cramping in his right hamstring following Monday's game. However, he'll now join the starting nine to replace Christian Yelich (back), who was scratched from the lineup shortly before first pitch. Chourio has performed well in three games since returning from the injured list, going 6-for-12 at the plate while driving in two RBI and scoring four runs.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Chourio became the fourth teenager to go 20-40 in the past 60 seasons, with Ronald Acuna being the most recent to accomplish the feat in 2017. He was also the first teenager to go 20-20 solely in the upper levels of the minors since Delmon Young in 2005. Chourio's surface stats weren't outstanding early in the year, in part due to the pre-tacked balls the Southern League used in the first half of the season. However, with standard balls back in play, Chourio slashed .324/.379/.538 with 11 home runs, 21 steals and a 13.4 percent strikeout rate in his final 57 games across Double-A and Triple-A, and he doesn't turn 20 until March. He has all the makings of a future first-round pick in fantasy, and he also happens to be an excellent defensive center fielder. The Brewers already have three very capable young defensive center fielders in Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell and Joey Wiemer, but they inked Chourio to a record-setting $80 million contract this offseason, so there are no financial incentives for the team to start him in the minors.

Sitting due to hamstring cramp
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Chourio will be out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies after the outfielder reported some cramping in his hamstring following Monday's 10-8 loss in the series opener, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. "Nothing to worry about...I just thought, be cautious here a little bit, because we need him," Murphy said.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Eclipses 100 career RBI
Chourio reached 100 RBI in his MLB career Saturday against the Cardinals and is the second fastest to achieve the feat in Brewers history, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Analysis
The 21-year-old totaled 79 RBI in 148 regular-season games as a rookie last season, and it took 27 additional games this year for him to top 100, which only Ryan Braun achieved faster in franchise history. Chourio has slowed down a bit over the past few days and is 1-for-his last 14, but he's still been productive early in the campaign with six homers, two steals, 21 runs and a .263/.277/.489 slash line.
