Mayer has largely been an afterthought for the Boilermakers this season, averaging 5.7 points and 1.2 rebounds off the bench. The freshman guard was given an expanded opportunity with Purdue up big against Maryland, and he parlayed that into one of his better showings of the season. Mayer isn't a big part of Purdue's rotation at the moment, but he's certainly gaining valuable experience off the Boilermakers' bench.
