John Mateer News: Dominant in victory

Mateer completed 30 of 37 passes for 392 yards, three touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 35-3 win versus Illinois State. He also had seven rushes for 24 yards with one touchdown.

Mateer opened the year in a big way as he passed for nearly 400 yards and tossed three touchdowns while adding one more score through the ground on a 7-yard run. The junior quarterback connected with eight different pass-catchers en route to completing 81.1 percent of his throws. Although this was a favorable matchup, the upcoming contest against Michigan should prove to be a tougher challenge.
