Two scores in victory
Gronowski completed 8 of 15 passes for 44 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 34-7 victory over Albany. He also had 11 rushes for 39 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Though he struggled through the air in his first game at the FBS level, totaling less than 50 yards on the day, Gronowski showed flashes of the potential that made him attractive to the Iowa coaching staff, totaling 39 yards on the ground including a one-yard scoring plunge in the third quarter, giving the Hawkeyes a 17-point lead at the time. The 6-foot-2 quarterback also found the end zone on a two-yard pass to receiver Kaden Wetjen just before halftime. Gronowski will get his next opportunity to produce in a rivalry matchup against Iowa State on Saturday.

Will undergo offseason surgery
Gronowski will undergo an offseason surgery and is expected to return to workouts in June, Sean Bock of 247Sports.com reports. "Mark played last season with a common football-related injury," Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said. "While he could have continued to play through the injury, Mark is choosing to have a procedure to address the issue, and we support him in his decision. Our sports medicine team thoroughly reviewed his records and has confidence he will be fully rehabbed in time to participate in our summer program. Mark will participate in all non-practice team activities while he recovers."
