Two-time series champion Alonso will make the switch from Alpine, the team he returned to Formula One with after a two-season sabbatical, to Aston Martin for the 2023 season. Alonso scored one podium in his two seasons with the squad and finished ninth in last season's championship. However, Alonso uncharacteristically lost several positions at the start of the race, which he managed to gain back thanks to the strategy from Aston Martin to pit him early, and fortunately, just prior to a safety car. After a slow start to the season, Alonso has now recorded points in six of his last seven races.
