2023 Fantasy Outlook
Norris' fourth season in Formula One- and subsequent fourth season with McLaren - was a bit of a step down from his 2021 season performance-wise, as both himself and former teammate Daniel Ricciardo expressed frustration with the consistency of the car at times during the year. A lack of front-end grip is seemingly to blame for Norris' singular podium finish in 2022, despite him being the only driver not out of the Top 3 constructors (Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes) to do so. Regardless of the car's shortcomings, Norris was able to get a bit more performance out of his MCL36 than his previous teammate during the season and was McLaren's primary points-winner in the battle for the Constructor's Championship. Finishing in the Top 10 sixteen times over the course of the season, the driver of the No. 4 made a valiant effort to keep his team in the running- only for Alpine to end up finishing ahead of McLaren, clinching fourth-place by 14 points. This season, Norris hopes to make a statement as one of the more talented youths on the grid but will have to overcome yet another temperamental car if McLaren is unable to address the issues identified in 2022. Runner-up Finish at Monza
Norris finished second in the Italian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Monza Circuit on Sunday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
The McLaren star would battle wheel-to-wheel with Max Verstappen after the lights out and briefly take the lead from the Red Bull Racing star. Norris would only hold P1 until lap 4 when Verstappen would get back past him for the lead. From there Norris would settle into P2 for most of the way. He would inherit the lead for 9 laps late in the grand prix during Verstappen's pit stop but would had the lead back later during his own. The stop for Norris was slow and that would seal his fate. Team orders would give P2 back to Norris from Oscar Piastri and that would be where he'd finish his day at Monza.
