2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season. Third in Italian Grand Prix
Piastri finished third in the Italian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Monza Circuit on Sunday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
The McLaren youngster would fall under immediate pressure from Charles Leclerc from the start and surrender P3 to him on lap 2. However, Piastri would rally back on lap 6 and overtake the Ferrari star to reclaim third-place. He would settle in and build a gap back to Leclerc and solidify his hold on P3. Piastri would pit on lap 45, one lap before Lando Norris and would get into P2 as a result of Norris' poor pit stop. Team orders would have Piastri give the spot back down the stretch and he would end up finishing third on the day. It was his series-leading 14th podium of the season.
