The Falcons waived Dotson on Saturday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dotson ranked second on Atlanta with 77 rushing yards during the three-game preseason slate, but he averaged only 3.9 yards per carry, and most of his yardage came on one 41-yard scamper. Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier should log the vast majority of the Falcons' carries this season, but with Dotson out of the picture, the No. 3 RB battle appears to be between Carlos Washington (hamstring), Nathan Carter and Jashaun Corbin.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Undrafted in 2023 out of Northern Colorado, Dotson parlayed a strong preseason into a roster spot with the Chargers, but after seeing limited action through the first four weeks he was sent to the practice squad and never resurfaced. Dotson showed a well-rounded skill set in college that included some explosiveness as a kick returner, but a lack of standout athletic traits could limit his ability to contribute in the NFL. With new head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman installing a run-heavy scheme, another good showing in camp might bode well for Dotson's 2024 production.
A multi-positional athlete during his collegiate career, Dotson operated at times as a slot receiver and running back while also fielding punts. The do-it-all player likely is on the outside looking in when it comes to one of the final roster spots available at running back for the Chargers, but his ability to play multiple positions could serve as a useful practice-squad candidate.
