2025 Fantasy Outlook
Woods sunk to 203 receiving yards in 15 games for the Texans last year, after landing in the range of 426 to 556 yards each year from 2021 to 2023. He's now in Pittsburgh for his age-33 season, with a chance to compete for a starting job in a offense where DK Metcalf is the only sure thing at wide receiver. Woods' reputation as an excellent blocker may help him earn playing time under run-first offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, but regular snaps won't necessarily translate to regular targets -- something Van Jefferson discovered in the same Pittsburgh offense last year. Woods hasn't done enough to warrant serious fantasy consideration since 2020, and that's highly unlikely to change this year even if he earns a starting job. Read Past Outlooks

Announces retirement
Woods announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Woods was out of the league in 2025 after he requested his release from the Steelers' practice squad prior to Week 1. The veteran was unable to find the right opportunity afterward and is now calling it a career after catching 683 passes for 8,233 yards and 38 touchdowns across 171 regular-season contests. Woods caught another 42 passes for 449 yards and one score across 10 postseason games. Woods was a second-round pick by the Bills in 2013 and spent the first four seasons of his career in Buffalo before spending the next five seasons with the Rams, where he won a Super Bowl in 2021. Woods then spent 2022 with the Titans before a two-year stint with the Texans. On Tuesday, he signed a one-day contract to retire with the Rams.

The 32-year-old Woods continued a decline last season that began when he sustained a serious knee injury in 2021. He began his first year in Houston as a prominent target for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, but factors conspired to eventually marginalize Woods, who posted the worst statistical season of his 11-year NFL career. The Texans added Stefon Diggs during the offseason, which should further curtail Woods' opportunities. The 2013 second-rounder is entering the final year of his deal, and the organization looks at him as insurance until it can get a good read on how Tank Dell returns from a significant injury. Woods will compete with Noah Brown, John Metchie, Xavier Hutchinson and Ben Skowronek for slotting at the end of the depth chart.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Cut candidate
Woods appears to be on the roster bubble, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Woods has reportedly underwhelmed in training camp, and that carried over into the Steelers' second preseason game. He only played late in the fourth quarter, behind other depth options such as Scotty Miller and Ben Skowronek. That likely leaves Woods on the outside looking in for a roster spot.
