Trevon Diggs

26-Year-Old CornerbackCB
Dallas Cowboys
2025 Fantasy Outlook
It's been all downhill since Diggs' 11-interception season in 2021. While he recorded 59 tackles and 14 passes defended in 2022, the 26-year-old cornerback hasn't been able to stay healthy the last two seasons, playing only 13 games due to a number of lower-body injuries. January knee surgery may keep him sidelined to begin the 2025 campaign, but with four seasons left on the five-year, $90 million extension he signed in July 2023, Dallas needs him to return to form. Diggs' 11 interceptions in 2021 may not be repeatable, but the 2020 second-round pick was on track for another strong campaign last year before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2. In his absence, DaRon Bland emerged as a premiere ballhawk in his own right, but Diggs offers plenty of upside on the opposite boundary, recording at least 14 passes defended in each of his three full NFL seasons. Heading into the first season of a five-year, $97 million extension he signed in July 2023, Diggs will look to establish himself as a key part of new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's secondary.
Not surprisingly, Diggs wasn't able to repeat his incredible ballhawking from 2021, managing only three interceptions over 17 games. He wasn't beaten as often down the field, though, allowing only 567 yards in coverage compared to 916 yards the year before. The Alabama product heads into his fourth NFL season with newcomer Stephon Gilmore filling the opposite starting spot at cornerback, which could result in more balls thrown Diggs' way and more chances to create turnovers.
Diggs was the talk of the NFL early in the season thanks to his incredible six-game INT streak, and the second-year corner wound up leading the league in picks with 11 once the campaign was in the books. He also gave up nearly 1,000 receiving yards in coverage, however, and opposing QBs weren't exactly averse to throwing his way despite the risk of a turnover. Diggs still is developing his skills after being a second-round selection in the 2020 Draft, but as long as he's viewed as a corner who can sometimes be beaten, he again should see enough opportunities to post strong IDP numbers.
A second-round pick out of Alabama in 2020, Diggs claimed a starting job from the jump and provided some stability for a Cowboys defense that mostly reeled from one disaster to the next last year. He missed four games in the second half with a foot injury, but he's poised to be the team's top option on the outside this season and has the athleticism and size to emerge as a shut-down corner.
The Cowboys spent most of the 2020 draft watching players drop into their laps well below where they were projected to go, but Diggs may prove to be the most important steal of them all. A lengthy cornerback who still possessed good speed, the Alabama product was seen as a possible first-round pick but instead went 51st overall to Dallas in the second round. He'll get a chance to immediately claim a spot in the starting lineup in place of Byron Jones, and his athleticism should be a good fit for new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan's scheme, which figures to put a bigger emphasis on creating turnovers.

Will play against Eagles
CBDallas Cowboys
September 3, 2025
Diggs, who's been recovering from January knee surgery and ramping up his conditioning, doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Thursday night's Week 1 matchup against the Eagles, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cowboys will therefore have their No. 1 cornerback available for the daunting challenge presented by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. However, Archer points out how many snaps Diggs will play remains an open question, after the talented corner missed the entire preseason and wasn't activated from the PUP list until Aug. 24.
