2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stolarz has often posted solid numbers in a backup role, but he was upgraded to a tandem goalie in 2024-25. With a career-high 34 games played, Stolarz went 21-8-3 with a 2.14 GAA and a .926 save percentage. While he didn't take a true No. 1 role, he shared the crease with Joseph Woll, giving the Maple Leafs one of the strongest tandems in the league, as both goalies look capable of being starters. It's not unheard of for a goalie to have a breakout year later in his career, and that's what happened with the 31-year-old Stolarz. That said, he doesn't have too much extra mileage, so he's in a great position to be an effective high-end No. 2 goalie in fantasy in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks

Backing up in Game 7
Contrary to a prior report, Stolarz (upper body) will suit up as the backup for Sunday's Game 7 matchup against the Panthers, according to Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun.
ANALYSIS
In a surprising turn of events, Stolarz will be an option in goal in the scenario that Joseph Woll falters or gets injured. The 31-year-old Stolarz was hurt in a 5-4 win in Game 1 but has been making strides in his recovery since then. The New Jersey native has a 4-2 record, 2.19 GAA and .901 save percentage over seven appearances in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Stolarz was one of the best backup goalies in the NHL last season. He picked up 16 wins in 27 games (16-7-2) with a 2.03 GAA and .925 save percentage and lifted the Stanley Cup in June. Now in Toronto, he's poised to share the crease with Joseph Woll and could see additional action if Woll can't stay healthy. The 6-foot-6 Stolarz could have the season of his life behind an elite offense and a much-improved blue line. He needs to be higher on your fantasy draft list than other 1Bs because of his breakout potential.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Working on contract extension
The Maple Leafs and Stolarz have begun contract extension talks, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Stolarz was a tremendous bargain in 2024-25, leading the NHL with a .926 save percentage over 34 games, at the lowly cost of $2.5 million. He has one more season left on the two-year deal and is projected to be Toronto's No. 1 netminder for the upcoming season. Stolarz had a 21-8-3 record with a 2.14 GAA, as well as his outstanding save percentage in 34 regular-season appearances and should be looking for a huge pay increase on a long-term deal.
