2025 Fantasy Outlook
Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov were Philadelphia’s No. 1 and No. 2 options, respectively, in goal during 2024-25. They’re still under contract, so where does that leave Vladar, who signed a two-year contract with the Flyers over the summer? Vladar was okay, but not great as the backup with Calgary in 2024-25, posting a 12-11-6 record with a 2.80 GAA and a .898 save percentage in 30 outings. However, Ersson and Fedotov are coming off rough campaigns, and if you compare them in terms of goals saved above expected last season, Vladar is the only one with a positive number, even if it is a modest 0.9. This should be seen as an open competition, and while Vladar has a solid chance of entering the campaign at the top of the depth charts, his position will likely be far from secure, so he’s not a safe option for starts. In goal Tuesday
Vladar will get the starting nod at home against the Capitals on Tuesday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Vladar has gone six straight appearances in the crease without registering a win, going 0-2-2 with a 3.22 GAA. Still, the 28-year-old backstop remains the No. 1 option for the Flyers, especially with Samuel Ersson (lower body) dealing with an injury. Even with his recent struggles, Vladar should still be capable of reaching the 20-win mark for the first time in his NHL career.

Vladar spent the summer rehabbing hip surgery, which was timed so he could be ready to start 2024-25. Look past his 8-9-2 record from last season and his 3.62 GAA, .882 save percentage and -10.76 GSAx (goals saved above expected), too. Vladar should start the season as the Flames 1A and will mentor young phenom Dustin Wolf as they platoon behind a rebuilding squad. Expectations will be low, but he could deliver league-average totals in a 40-start season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Poised to start next two games
Vladar figures to start each of the Flyers' final two games before the NHL break, Charlie O'Connor of PHLY Sports reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Vladar has been struggling to pick up wins, going 0-2-2 with a 3.22 GAA in his last six appearances. Still, with Samuel Ersson dealing with a lower-body injury, the team looks set to ride Vladar into the Olympic break -- though recently recalled Aleksei Kolosov could get a look if head coach Rick Tocchet wants to shake things up.
