2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sherwood struggled to find his footing in the NHL across his first six years in the league, but he found a home, at least temporarily, in Vancouver by signing a two-year, $3 million contract with the team in the 2024 free-agency class. Besides Quinn Hughes, Sherwood was arguably Vancouver’s most impactful player last season -- he set an NHL record for the most hits (462) in a season and broke out offensively with 19 goals and 40 points over 78 games, all career highs. The 30-year-old also had personal bests in shots on goal (141) and shooting percentage (13.5) while earning 14:53 of ice time per game, so he has a strong foundation to build on heading into 2025-26. With a new bench boss in Adam Foote and the fact that it’s the final year of his contract, the hard-hitting winger has plenty of reasons to continue proving his worth. Read Past Outlooks

Sherwood logged a career-high 68 regular-season games with Nashville in 2023-24, which resulted in him collecting 10 goals and 27 points. That's not bad production for a player averaging 12:10 of ice time, but his real value is tied to his physical play. The 29-year-old dished out 234 hits last year, and he'll likely end up with a similar total if his new team, the Canucks, deploy him regularly. While nothing is guaranteed, the two-year, $3 million contract Vancouver signed him to suggests that they're looking for him to be a mainstay on at least the fourth line. Just keep in mind that for all his hits, Sherwood isn't a major source of PIM, collecting a moderate 41 last season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Playing Wednesday?
Sherwood, who hasn't suited up since Jan. 10 because of an upper-body injury, could make his Sharks debut Wednesday in Colorado, per Max Miller of NHL.com.
ANALYSIS
Sherwood skated on the top line alongside Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith during Tuesday's practice, which bodes well for Sherwood's potential availability Wednesday. The right-shot winger was dealt from Vancouver to San Jose on Jan. 19 and should benefit from the move to a more competitive team. The 30-year-old is two goals away from matching his career high of 19, which he set in 78 games with the Canucks last season.
