Can't defend takedown in loss
BantamweightUFC
January 31, 2026
Rangbo lost to Lawrence Lui via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 325 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Rangbo is still just 20 years of age, so inconsistency should be expected. He started off very well here, beating Lui up for the entirety of Round 1, but his pace slowed greatly as the fight progressed. Rangbo also gave up seven takedowns, although he did a nice job of not absorbing much damage from the bottom. There's zero doubt Rangbo has a much higher ceiling that Lui over the long term, but he should consider himself lucky even one of the three judges thought he deserved to win this fight. It seemed like a clear 29-28 scorecard for his opponent. We'll probably hear from Rangbo again at some point in the future.

ANALYSIS
Rangbo has a chance to become the next phenom in the sport, as his two victories on the show were sandwiched in between his 20th birthday. He'll give up six inches in reach to the 29-year-old Lui, who trains out of the famed City Kickboxing gym.
