2026 Fantasy Outlook
The 2024 Rookie of the Year built on his strong first season and posted good numbers last year. Hocevar would scratch for nine Top 10's with his No. 77 Spire Motorsports team. The young driver and crew chief Luke Lambert seem to be growing together and developing some real chemistry. The superspeedways and short tracks were his best ovals and where his best results came from. If Hocevar could reduce the DNF's (eight last season) and improve his week-to-week consistency, he could climb the rankings in the upcoming season. Those gains have yet to be realized but Hocevar has the talent to make it happen. He and this race team are good speculative buy low candidates in just about any fantasy racing format. Multi-Year Extension
NASCAR Cup
February 5, 2026
Spire Motorsports and Hocevar have reached a long-term agreement that will see the 23-year-old rising star at the controls of the team's No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 into the next decade.
ANALYSIS
The 2024 Rookie of the Year has made a real and lasting impression over his first two seasons competing in NASCAR's top division. Spire was so impressed that they've inked him to a long-term deal that will keep Hocevar in the No. 77 Chevrolet for the foreseeable future. The young driver pulled down nine Top-10 finishes last season and he's poised to do even more in the upcoming campaign.

Spire Motorsports has tabbed not one, but two rookie drivers to form their three-car team in 2024. Hocevar makes the jump from truck straight into NASCAR's top division, much like his teammate, Zane Smith. He'll pilot the team's more established No. 77 entry and be paired with crew chief, Luke Lambert. Hocevar marched to four victories and a fourth-place finish in last season's truck series points and impressed many in the process. He also worked in nine Cup Series starts, mainly in relief driver duty with Legacy Motor Club. That experience will serve him well making this transition in series in 2024. Those efforts yielded a top finish of 11th-place in the late-season Bristol race. Much like his teammate Smith who is making the same mammoth jump, Hocevar will face some challenges to perform and develop in the very competitive Cup Series in the upcoming season.

Despite a winless campaign last season, Hocevar raced very competitively and would wind up with seven Top-5 and 12 Top-10 finishes. The Niece Motorsports youngster would finish a respectable 10th-place in the series standings for the second-straight year. Hocevar returns to the No. 42 Chevrolet for another campaign in 2023 and he'll look to collect that first-career win that has evaded him so far through 54 truck series starts. He'll once again be partnered with crew chief Phil Gould and the two will look to push this team into race-winning form and possible championship contention. Hocevar has some undeniable racing talent that has yet to be fully tapped.
The 19-year-old prospect had quite a rookie campaign last season. Hocevar turned heads and nearly won at Charlotte last year. He would collect three Top-5 and eight Top-10 finishes in his first full season of truck series racing. Hocevar returns to the No. 42 Chevrolet of Niece Motorsports in 2022. He'll continue to work with crew chief, Phil Gould, and build on what they started last season. This driver and team have the potential to win races as Hocevar gets more experience. They could climb the rankings if improvement comes faster than anticipated. The No. 42 Chevrolet team is one to keep a close eye on early in the schedule.
The young driver turns 18-years-old just before the 2021 season starts, and the timing is perfect. Hocevar will get his first full season of action in the Camping World Truck Series. He's made nine-combined starts over the last two seasons with seven of those coming last year alone with Niece Motorsports. Hocevar grabbed four Top-15 finishes in those efforts and was a pleasant surprise despite his lack of experience. He'll now get a full slate of 23 races to show what he can do, and compete for Rookie of the Year honors this season. Hocevar faces an uphill battle in terms of the ROTY, but his driving talent would appear to give him at least a slugger's chance at the award.
