2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sochan, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, showed flashes as a rookie, but his production has remained stagnant since then. He made a concerted effort to shoot fewer three-pointers last season, which boosted his field-goal percentage to a career-high 53.5 percent. However, Sochan played a career-low 25.3 minutes per game and made fewer than 60 regular-season appearances for the second time in three years. He could be looking at another role downgrade in 2025-26. Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox are healthy and will presumably lead the team in usage, while Stephon Castle, Harrison Barnes and Devin Vassell round out the starting five. The sixth man will likely be No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper, leaving Sochan to fight for playing time with Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, Kelly Olynyk and rookie Carter Bryant. Sochan likely has the upper hand over that group and should see more than 20 minutes a night. However, the threat of reduced playing time lowers his fantasy floor, and with so much star power ahead of him, Sochan's fantasy ceiling has already taken a massive hit. Read Past Outlooks
Pair of defensive counters in debut
Sochan tallied two points (1-1 FG), one assist, one steal and one block in 10 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 126-111 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Cleared to make his Knicks debut after signing a one-year deal with the club over the All-Star break, Sochan was the fifth player off the bench Thursday. After playing shifts of less than a minute at the ends of the first and third quarters, Sochan saw more extended playing time in the final 5:46 of the contest, when the Pistons had the game well in hand. Sochan was able to make a mark on the defensive end, but it's unclear if his performance will guarantee him a regular spot on the second unit. At the very least, Sochan seems to be ahead of Jordan Clarkson on the depth chart, as Clarkson dropped out of the rotation entirely Thursday after appearing in each of the previous six contests.

Sochan is coming off what can only be described as a roller coaster of a season, ending as the 178th-ranked player in standard fantasy formats. He opened the campaign as the starting point guard, an experiment that seemed doomed to fail from the jump. Unsurprisingly, he soon shifted to his more natural position at wing/forward, allowing him to put up intriguing production across multiple categories. He closed with averages of 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.9 three-pointers and 1.3 combined steals and blocks. In what has been a busy offseason for the Spurs, newly acquired Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes are likely going to be inserted into the starting lineup. This alone muddies the water when it comes to Sochan's role, making him a tough player to draft outside of slightly deeper formats. It is likely he will still play a meaningful role given San Antonio is still figuring out its long-term roster. Sochan is someone to monitor closely on the off chance he starts at power forward or plays significant minutes in a leading role off the bench.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Should debut after All-Star break
Sochan is expected to be available in his first game for the Knicks on Feb. 19 against Detroit, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sochan noted after signing with New York that is was important for him to wind up in a spot with strong veteran leadership, and it's an added bonus that his new club is a contender. The Baylor product fell out of favor in San Antonio after averaging 5.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in his first 19 appearances of the 2025-26 campaign, and he'll now get a fresh start with the Knicks, where he'll likely need to fight for playing time with Mohamed Diawara and Kevin McCullar.
