2025 Fantasy Outlook
Smith was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 Draft but was limited to just seven games in his rookie season after opening the year on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. In those seven contests, he caught seven passes, but four of those, including his lone touchdown, came in Week 18 with starters resting. He was inactive in the playoffs and isn't guaranteed to win a roster spot out of camp. Terrace Marshall will be his top competition for the fifth receiver spot. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Smith suited up for nine regular-season games with Philadelphia last year, after the team selected him in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He secured seven of nine targets for 41 yards and one score in that span, but after being waived by the Eagles on Tuesday, he'll now need to establish himself in a depth role for a new organization.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Smith was selected by the Eagles in the fifth round (152nd overall) of the 2024 Draft out of Texas A&M. The 5-9, 190-pound wideout is a talented slot playmaker, highlighted by his 857 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns (six receiving, four rushing) in 10 games as a sophomore back in 2020. His 2022 season was cut short by a broken leg after four games, and he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his shin at the NFL Combine this spring. If his legs hold up, Smith will compete with Parris Campbell to be the third wideout in Philadelphia, where A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are unlikely to cede many targets.

Cut candidate for Philadelphia
WRPhiladelphia Eagles
August 23, 2025
Brooks Kubena and Zach Berman of The Athletic both believe that Smith will lose out to Darius Cooper for a depth spot at wide receiver on the Eagles' 53-man roster.
ANALYSIS
Smith finished the preseason with six catches on 10 targets for 40 yards and two touchdowns while adding 38 yards on two kickoff returns and 63 yards on four punt returns. He's been in a battle with Cooper and Terrace Marshall for a depth spot in the wideout room, and even with Johnny Wilson out for the season due to a knee injury, Smith appears to be on the outside looking in for a place on the 53-man roster. Kubena believes that general manager Howie Roseman should use some of Smith's strong preseason play as a way to trade the 2024 fifth-rounder to a team in need of depth at wide receiver, rather than cutting the second-year wideout.
