2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sanborn spent the first three years of his career in Chicago after being an undrafted free agent in 2022, and he followed Matt Eberflus to Dallas by signing a one-year deal with the Cowboys in March. The 24-year-old Wisconsin product totaled just 100 tackles and 2.5 sacks in a depth role while playing all 17 games each of the prior two seasons, and while he could begin the 2025 season holding down a starting spot due to his experience with Eberflus' scheme, he'll be a stop-gap option at best. Gets six stops Thursday

Sanborn recorded six tackles (two solo) during Thursday's 24-20 loss at Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Sanborn played a significant role in the Cowboys' season opener, playing 48 of their 63 defensive snaps, and he came away with a decent day on the stat sheet to show for it. It's not likely Dallas will see such a heavy dose of the run again in Week 2 when they host the Giants, so Sanborn could spend more time in coverage in that contest.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Sanborn's career statistics are misleading in terms of his IDP potential. Through two years, he's averaged 64.5 tackles per season. However, the Wisconsin product has played 87 percent or more of the defensive snaps in only seven contests, notching 10.1 tackles per game. The linebacker projects to move into a starting role this year, meaning his weekly tallies should be significantly higher than the last two seasons. Although Sanborn may not post 10 tackles per game, he should be a high-floor IDP.
After the Bears traded Roquan Smith to the Ravens following Week 8 last season, Sanborn, an undrafted rookie, stepped into a starting job and averaged 10.8 tackles per contests to go with a pair of sacks from Weeks 9 through 13. Most of Sanborn's production came at middle linebacker, though, so the offseason pickups of Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards may cap Sanborn's workload in his second campaign. Sanborn also ended 2022 on IR with an ankle injury but should be ready for training camp.
