2026 Fantasy Outlook
It was a tale of two seasons for Thorbjornsen, who began 2025 by missing 6-of-9 cuts with a best finish of T39. He turned the corner thereafter, seriously contending with four top-5 finishes as he continues to improve heading into his third season. The 2024 PGA Tour University ranking leader will be a popular breakout candidate for 2026 when you consider his pedigree and age (24), on top of being one of the longest players on Tour. If there's something to nitpick, he's only been an average putter and is a poor bunker player. Even so, the ball striking makes him stand out as a player that can take a big leap next season. Nears first victory in Scottsdale
February 8, 2026
Thorbjornsen finished in a share of third place at the WM Phoenix Open following a four-under 67 in the final round.
ANALYSIS
Thorbjornsen got off to a great start to the round on Sunday with birdies on three of the first five holes. He ended a long stretch of pars with a birdie on the par-5 13th. Thorbjornsen then took the outright lead with an eagle at the par-5 15th. Some nerves might have set in after that huge jolt of adrenaline because he ended up making bogey at 16 and 17. Thorbjornsen then missed a makable birdie on 18 that would have ended up putting him in a playoff with Chris Gotterup and Hideki Matsuyama. Thorbjornsen is going to be a star on the PGA Tour, but this was a good lesson for him on how to react in a high-pressure situation in an incredible atmosphere. He led the field for the week in SG: Off-the-Tee and was top 5 in GIR's and scrambling. Thorbjornsen's breakthrough is coming.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Thorbjornsen is fully exempt for the 2025 season after topping the 2024 PGA Tour University Rankings. Following a standout senior season at Stanford, Thorbjornsen would take his talents the the PGA Tour and make 11 starts to close the year. While there was some expected inconsistency, Thorbjornsen showed he has the talent to compete at the highest level racking up a T2 at the John Deere Classic before finishing 2024 with a pair of T8 finishes in his last three starts. While he didn't have enough starts to be eligible, he would have ranked top-five on Tour last season in driving distance and in the top-10 in GIR percentage. Thorbjornsen has also proved to be a strong putter gaining strokes on the greens in his last five starts in 2024. While the talent is very exciting, expectations need to be properly managed as a full season on the PGA Tour is quite the grind for a young player.
