Guiu (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's opener against West Ham United.

Guiu (undisclosed) is training ahead of Saturday's match against West Ham and could potentially play, according to manager Regis Le Bris, per Matty Hewitt of The Chronicle. "I think with Marc, we are going to have the opportunity to select them. I think it might be a little bit tough to start because of their fitness levels and because they have not had much time with their teammates. So it might be a little bit early for them to start, but that is a decision we will make on Friday morning."

Guiu will be working on his fitness in the coming days and be assessed on a daily basis until being fit and ready for Sunderland, coach Regis Le Bris told the media, according to The Northern Echo. "We'll see. Every day we will make an assessment of their level and see how far we can push them through the training sessions. Lift the intensity, the contact. If they react well, they can then join the squad. If they don't react well, we wait one day, two day and assess again. So we will see for next week."

Guiu completed a loan move to Sunderland from Chelsea for the 2025/26 campaign.

Guiu (hamstring) is an option for the final game of the season against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, coach Enzo Maresca said in the press conference. "Marc is the same. They can both be available for the next game [at Forest]."
